where is my money going?

great question.

Your money goes primarily to the artists.

MAILORDER:

Community Records keeps roughly 15% of what ever the sale is to go back into keeping the site going and helping the bands to release more music.

So, for example, if you spend $10 on stuff here, the label gets, $1.50.

You’re money is also going to pay-pal, they take 30 cents + 3% from each transaction. Shitty. But that’s the easiest way to do credit cards.

For the albums that have been released exclusively through community records, our main goal as a label is to break even. Once we as a label have been paid back what we were owed from the release of a record, the bands have no financial tie to us, beyond the requested 15-20% for mail order sales. Most of the bands have voluntarily agreed to a split of the money after the break even point though, in order to helpĀ  keep this label going.

Side note, once Stuck Lucky (possom soul) and A Billion Ernies (Dumpster Generation) have been paid back in full, their full MP3 albums will be made available for free download. So get your friends to order the physical copies and then make the MP3s free foreveryone else afterwards. <3

When ordering, if you wanna mail cash or checks we do those too:
