ABETOUR

A Billion Ernies is about to embark on a HUGE two month U.S. Tour starting the beginning of April until early June. They will be traveling from the west coast, blazing a trail along the gulf coast, then heading to the northeast/midwest before heading back north by way of the northwest. THIS TOUR IS CRAZY! They could really use your support while they’re out there. So if you see any dates you can make, MAKE THEM!

Check out this crazy tour route map!

MADDIE RUTHLESS

  • Maddie Ruthless and The Secret Affair AND Fatter Than Albert are touring together in Europe this September! Some of this is being done through an agent, but we will have a lot of free dates to book up. If y’all can help out or know someone who can, we will hook you up in some way.
  • DON’T FORGET! Maddie Ruthless and The Secret Affair will also be dropping their debut vinyl sometime in the summer. Keep your ears open!
  • Ms. Maddie frequently does solo gigs and DJ sets when The Affair is away, so check out her WEBSITE or the TOUR page to catch her alone.

CADDYWHOMPUS

  • Today we sent off the Caddywhompus master to United Record Pressing. The album is going to be called “Remainder” and will be released on April 23rd. Many of you probably have not heard this band. If this be the case, go check out some of their TUNES. I promise they will surprise you.

Get all 2010 releases for $100

February 25th, 2010

Hello again friends!

We hope that you all will think of this as a good and fun deal. Basically we have a very ambitious year ahead of us. We are releasing literally double the amount of records we released last year and frankly we need to find a way to pay for all of this stuff and not send our bank accounts to zero. Don’t worry, releasing all of these records in 2010 is not going to send us in to bankruptcy, but we could use some helps you know????. So we thought…. Lets just make one big pre-order for all of the 2010 records? That could work maybe.

So please…. watch this incredibly silly video we did to promote the deal:

We got inspired from Frankie and Johnny’s Furniture which use to exist in New Orleans:

So If you put up $100 you will get at least all of these new records:
CADDYWHOMPUS vinyl w/ CD
MADDIE RUTHLESS vinyl w/ CD
THE FLAMING TSUNAMIS vinyl w/ CD
SAFETY -”night lights” vinyl w/ CD
A BILLION ERNIES & INFORMANT split vinyl w/ CD
THE ROOKS – 7 inch vinyl
SEE YOU IN MEXICO – Prayana-kale – CD
& What ever other records we put out this year
+
A COM REC TEE SHIRT OF YOUR SIZE

You also get shipping on all of these records.
We will ship them to you as they come in (not all at once)

AND! this deal lasts all year, if you decide you want to do it now, in July, in December, whenever in 2010 you still get all of the releases.

Your name (if you want it to) will go on our special thank you list posted on the site and you will get a special golden trophy. Ok… well the golden trophy may or may not happen, but you will get our sincere appreciation for helping us to keep this dream going!

So if you want to get that deal you can do that HERE

BLOCK PARTY 2010

We will be announcing the block party line up in the next few days. We apologize it has taken so darn long. We’re working on ordering the fliers and getting all the logistics squared away now. As a teaser, here’s the art work:
Block-Party-Poster-550px

Thanks for being here and thank you for all of your support. We know and understand that not everyone has money let alone $100 to put up for records, but none the less thank you for your attention and kindness.

Peace friends.

Letter From A Friend

February 21st, 2010

This letter came from a friend in Australia. We occasionally get kind e-mails and messages from people involved with or interested in Community Records. This one really struck a chord with us and made us feel flattered, so we wanted to share it with everyone. I feel like this letter compliments everyone who cares about this label, not just D-Ray and I, we can not do anything with out you all and your support, this label is meaningless with out people such as yourself, Thanks yet again for caring…….

Hey guys,

It’s been a week and a half since my last CommRec package arrived, which means I’ve been a bit slow/lazy getting this e-mail done, but I didn’t want to let it slip away so here it is.

Thanks heaps for being such great guys and doing such great work. Both times that I’ve done a mail order, you’ve sent me some extra free stuff and a little note about being in Australia and having to pay a high price for shipping. Completely unnecessary, and it’s not like you’re curing cancer, but it really does make my day. And in the bigger picture, I love Community Records. By working with the artists and offering free downloads of nearly all the music that’s for sale, you’re updating the business side of underground music, and it just seems to work so well. I also love the way that your ethic and conduct blends the raw DIY attitude of punk rock with the message of unity from ska.

So Greg and D-Ray, and to the rest of the CommRec community; the bands who support this format and the fans who keep it going, thankyou for being awesome. You give me hope for the future of good music.

Peace and unity,
-Isaac

The past two weeks have been insane. I have been taking videos, of which I will post sooner or later. Here’s some of the things that have been happening in my life/ D-Ray’s life/ Community Records world.

  • Saints won the Superbowl
  • Saints Parade!
  • Screaming Females played Hey! Cafe (it ruled)
  • So many Mardi Gras Parades !
  • The Hey! Cafe has been insanely busy with the parades
  • Finished the new Community Records Zine & Poster
  • Working on the block party finalized line up & Art
  • (we will have a Block Party announcement by the end of this week)
  • Just ordered the Rooks 7 inch
  • Planning out an FTA/ Maddie Ruthless European Tour for fall
  • Two Mardi Gras Day shows tomorrow with Maddie

Oh hell yea.

Here’s some stuff to look at:

Screaming Females Video: (new album “power move” = awesome)

Tonight if all goes as planned I will be watching the ENGLISH BEAT AND FISHBONE together at the House of Blues in New Orleans.

Have a great day. New Stuff up soon. Mardi Gras has consumed my life currently.
